A month after this release, everyone will be doing it everywhere in all sorts of packages and products  and saying they did it first.  You will know better. The Fastest Easiest Way To Learn filePro

The Programming Tutorials are 3 CD's, Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced, which take you via the use of step-by-step movies from knowing nothing about filePro at all, to knowing just about everything you need to make you an excellent filePro programmer. Absolutely no previous programming skills or filePro knowledge is required. Just sit back, watch and listen as one of the leading experts in the field teaches you from scratch.

Beginning takes you from knowing nothing to a point where you will know what any good filePro programmer has learned. Intermediate will land you at a fully competent plateau where you will have covered most of filePro's important aspects. The Advanced CD will deposit you at a place where you'll be able to write almost any program you can imagine, in filePro. A determined learner could master this material in about two to three weeks. From nowhere to expert in light speed time. That's how good these CD's are.

Design

The course is not a series of detached lessons, but a cohesive approach that has you building a useful accounting application as you learn each new thing.  You can either just watch and listen, or follow along trying each step out yourself as you go. You can Pause, the movie, Rewind, Fast Forward or start again as many times as you like. You get to go over and over each routine and explanation until you understand it thoroughly.

This is not just a dry rundown of the fundamental filePro applications like Define Files, Define Screens, Define Edits, etc. The videos certainly cover all aspects of these basics, but they do it while constructing a cohesive client application. From the outset you will be learning all about every aspect of filePro, while focusing on each important section in its turn. Throughout, you may be in the middle of learning how to make a particular function work, when it becomes necessary to learn another piece of the puzzle before you can go any further at that point. That is what makes these tutorials so unique and valuable. They NEVER mention or employ a function or technique to describe something if that function or technique hasn't been properly explained previously. That is why there is no programming or filePro knowledge required to start working with these CD's. They are self-contained and self-illuminating.

Get New Programmers Up To Speed Fast

Suppose you have an in house system that uses filePro and you know nothing about how to modify it to better suit your changing needs. The SS Tutorial is ideal for you. As an employer, you can give these CD's to an employee and have them learn the program from the ground up. Depending on the abilities of the people you give this course to, the better you are going to be able to continually enhance your own programs. If you hire a technically minded person, or even a computer science type and tell them that learning your system is part of the package, you can grow your own filePro programmer. Anyone can learn from this course, and someone with a penchant for programming of any kind already, will become addicted to the power and sped of designing in filePro. For the cost of this course, and a few weeks of ramp-up time, you can easily save your company thousands and thousands of dollars in expensive consulting time.

What's Not Covered?

From the outset of the Beginning Tutorial, it is stated that these courses will not cover two capabilities of filePro, HTML and ODBC. These are essentially other languages and protocols all in themselves, and it is not within the scope of this otherwise complete filePro course to cover these topics. Note: No fpGI specific code is discussed in these tutorials. Everything covered will work in fpGI, but no code that only works in fpGI is used here. (fpGI - filePro Graphical Interface)

User Comments

  • "I expected this to be a dry run-through of filePro, but you start right off building that cool accounting application and keep right on going, adding each new filePro function just as it is needed. This is the fastest way I can imagine to learn filePro. Fantastic job!"

  • "I have been using filePro for as long as you have, John. How is it that I learned something new in almost every lesson on these CD's. You are truly the best filePro teacher around. Don't know how to thank you. I've wanted to understand some of this stuff for years, especially arrays, the header-detail thing and file I/O. They have all been mysteries until I watched you lay it out all so simply. I'm going to rewrite every program I have. I don't know whether to thank you or hate you."

  • "These disks are worth $500 a piece. You are a fool for selling them so cheap. They are spectacular."

  • "Your exposition of the Add, Modify, Delete Browse was so elegant and simple. I have been complicating everything I write. It's so easy when you see it done right. Thanks for letting me see this stuff ahead of the pack. The package is so slick. The filePro crowd is going to be very pleasantly surprised. Once again, you have put the bar out of sight."

  • "You asked me to help you go over these disks and improve them in whatever way I could. I wouldn't change a thing. filePro should have done this years ago, but you know what, I don't think they could have done it better. These are perfect. You must have spent years on this project."

  •  I think you're right. It's easy to see that anyone could learn filePro from this course alone. I'm flattered that you thought I might be able to improve on the CD's, but no way, you've got it all here already."
